Greenfleet

SOCO is undertaking practical action against climate change by supporting Greenfleet, a leading environmental organisation. SOCO is seeking to offset carbon emissions for each of our team, with a goal to achieve this in FY24. Our team has already started making a positive impact on the environment by planting a tree for every client feedback received. Through this initiative, we hope to help restore natural ecosystems and mitigate the impact of carbon emissions.

SOCO Joins Greenfleet in Reforestation Project to Combat Climate Change

On Friday, 24 March 2023, SOCO team members took part in a reforestation project near Granchester, Queensland to support Greenfleet’s mission to combat climate change. The team worked tirelessly under the scorching temperatures nearing 40 degrees celsius to plant trees and contribute to a healthier planet.

Inspiring change for women in STEM

SOCO was the initial funder of the #FemaleFacesforPublicSpaces campaign, led by 9-year-old Malia Knox.

In 2022, the Hon Shannon Fentiman, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, announced that in response to this initiative, the Queensland Government would provide final fundingfor a statue of world leading geologist and NASA astrobiologist, Dr Abigail Allwood at the Brisbane Planetarium.

SOCO believe it is important for girls to see examples of successful women in technology. Dr Allwood’s statue is designed to inspire future generations to embrace STEM careers, resulting in meaningful change.

Live like her challenge

SOCO recently took a step to support Mangrove Housing and help homeless women over 55 get back on their feet. As part of our ongoing efforts to support women in the community, SOCO is a Silver Sponsor of the Live Like Her Challenge.

Two women in our leadership team, Natasha Reynolds and Raelene Bettles, also volunteered to sleep in a car to raise awareness of the many people that are forced to sleep and live in their cars. Their uncomfortable night was to raise funds for The Forgotten Women project which is a unique, grassroots housing initiative for homeless women over 55.
